  • Make anything sound like it spins off a dusty, slightly warped record
  • DUST: a Poisson-style impulse generator — constant fine crackle + occasional bigger pops, band-shaped (~1-6 kHz) with a fast decay; one knob sets density + level
  • NOISE: continuous groove-floor surface bed via vm_noise (lean brown/pink, highs rolled off) — darker than tape hiss
  • WARP: the mechanical age in one knob — sub-80 Hz motor rumble + a once-per-revolution wow (~0.55 Hz = 33⅓ rpm eccentric wobble, vm_moddel_sig × vm_lfo) + a gentle old-record bandwidth roll-off
  • MIX: dry/wet; additive layers scale with their own knobs. MIX 0 = bit-exact dry
  • Built on vmtape’s vm_noise / vm_envpulse + vmmod’s vm_lfo / vm_moddel_sig — the turntable sibling of the Tape series, sharing no character with the cassettes

  • Apple Silicon (arm64) — Intel / Windows coming later
  • ✅ Standalone app (VINYL.app) — A minor chord test tone
  • ✅ AU (Audio Unit v3) — GarageBand, Logic Pro, REAPER, Ableton Live

Install

  • AU → ~/Applications (open VINYL.app once to register)
