  • Play your audio off ruined, aged tape — mechanical defects + aging, not saturation
  • Crinkle: erratic pitch warble + amplitude ripple (crinkled tape passing the head)
  • Dropouts: random near-zero dips with localized HF loss (oxide shedding), micro-dropouts at higher density
  • Age: HF roll-off 18 kHz → ~3.5 kHz + rising hiss — and old tape fails more (defect bias)
  • Built on the shared vmtape defect core; zero latency, no look-ahead

  • macOS 13 Ventura or later
  • Apple Silicon (arm64) — Intel / Windows coming later
  • ✅ Standalone app (DAMAGE.app) — A minor chord test tone
  • ✅ AU (Audio Unit v3) — GarageBand, Logic Pro, REAPER, Ableton Live

Install

  • AU → ~/Applications (open DAMAGE.app once to register)
